Striding Edge stride out with Borrowdale Johnny to the communities of England!

Striding Edge, perhaps best known for their ceilidhs, are a supremely versatile act and their touring show displays their mastery of many elements: Staged concert, concert 'from the floor', performance dance and participatory dance.

Striding Edge are committed to taking their music to the heart of communities, and their rural touring show has proved to be relevant and highly popular in the rural villages of England...

Borrowdale Johnny Tours England!

Striding Edge launched their current album with 'Borrowdale Johnny Northern Tour'. This tour was organised by 'Highlights' and 'Way Out West' rural touring schemes in Cumbria. The tour took place over autumn and winter 2007 and went out to 16 community halls around Cumbria and County Durham: the roots heartland of Striding Edge's music!

A concert set started the show, presenting a sequence of material from 'Borrowdale Johnny'. This was followed by a classic Striding Edge ceilidh featuring the very best in in Cumbrian dance music. When the dancers needed to catch breath, unplugged 'floor spots' from the band featured Westmorland Clog dancing, border pipe playing and hearty sing-along songs!

The success of this tour has sparked interest in other regions: Striding Edge are set to tour Dorset in winter 2008, and North Lancashire in spring 2009.

Striding Edge would like to take their touring show to other counties and would welcome contact from touring organisations and event promoters both in Britain and abroad.
